Peterborough Business Awards
In September 2006 the hospital entered the annual Peterborough Business Award Competition in the Customer Care Category In this category alone there were more than 200 entrants. The hospital was visited by the award judges in early October 2006 who inspected the hospital processes and procedures ensuring the delivery of quality care. This ranged from administration processes, Health & Safety, patient satisfaction, staff training and environment cleanliness and aesthetics. The hospital was nominated for short listing and was selected for the second position “Highly Commended” in this category rubbing shoulders with other quality business giants like Thomas Cook and John Lewis Partnership who are major employers in Peterborough.
Visit by Consulate General of Egypt
As a result of a few overseas patients having been to the hospital for consultations and treatment, His Excellency, The Ambassador M.F. Abou Dounya, Consulate General of Egypt paid a visit to the hospital and met with staff and patients. He subsequently sent letters to both the hospital Matron and Medical Director praising the quality of staff and services of the hospital.
Independent Sector Hospital Care Providers
The Department of Health put out a tender to the Independent Sector Hospital Care Providers to assist the Department in providing treatment for NHS patients if and when required. Large numbers of entrants were subjected to three phases of a rigorous selection process. OSSH has passed all three phases successfully and was one of 14 firms to sign an agreement with the Secretary of State for Health. OSSH was probably the smallest “company” being a single stand-alone hospital with single speciality compared to others “companies” who operate chains of hospitals nationally and internationally. OSSH selection was based on the unique operational and service model.
Who’s Who Global Register
In March 2006 the hospitals Medical Director was nominated in the Who’s Who Global Register for Executives and Professionals. His entry is renewed into the 2008 edition.
