Orthopaedics and Spine Specialist Hospital (OSSH)
PROGRESS REPORT

(15th December 2004 – 31st August 2007)

Introduction

The Orthopaedics and Spine Specialist Hospital has achieved its milestone of:
  1. Seeing 5000 patients in its various departments.
  2. Assessment and advice of 1000 new patients.
  3. Carrying out > 800 major treatment procedures.
OSSH philosophy of care recognises that it is a privilege to be trusted with the care of its patients. The hospital is the first independent purpose built hospital in the United Kingdom designed exclusively for the treatment of patients with musculo skeletal conditions. Since inception the hospital mission was set as follows:
  • Service Mission: to deliver innovative, compassionate, responsive and cost efficient care.
  • Social Mission: To collaborate and complement the NHS locally and nationally, and make its services available to anyone who needs them, whether self-funding, insured or through the N.H.S.
  • Business Mission: to run our services on sound business principles that sustain our success and promote the professional and personal development of our staff.
In this report OSSH provides details of its innovative service delivery model, the services provided, the clinical outcomes, main news and events during the period. OSSH is making these results public as it recognises that patients should have access to data from providers to enable them to make informed choices about where best to have their treatment. This report is part of OSSH ongoing commitment to openness with GP’s patients and commissioners.
